My resignation as Space Fleet CO
Dear Friends, Players, and Hosts,
It is with a heavy heart and a lot of happy memories that I am announcing my resignation as the leader of Space Fleet, effective Tuesday, July 18th, 2006. It's been a long journey, and I think that it's been an overall positive one. Unfortunately, between my professional life and my personal life, I don't have the time that's required of a good leader to continue heading up Space Fleet. As I have said to many of you on many separate occasions, "real life comes first."
While I will be resigning the position of Space Fleet Commanding Officer, I will be retaining my two hosting positions on the USS Archeron and Outpost 221, as well as my job as FSF Website Director. I will also be staying on as the webmaster for the Space Fleet (SFOL) website, located at http://www.sfolweb.com/.
FSF Margo, who has been our Fleet XO for over six months, will be taking over as the Commanding Officer of Space Fleet.
Ever since I took over the reigns of SFOL in 2003, I had one goal: Rebuild SFOL, and get it to where it was stable, so we could take the "training wheels" off again. I think that in the three years that have passed since that goal was established, we have greatly succeeded. We have eight awesome games right now. We've got our first message board and IRC games. We have successfully moved away from needing America Online to sponsor and host us. We truly are better off now than we've ever been.
I would like to thank the hosts of SFOL, both past and present. It's been a great journey, and I'm glad to be able to walk away with confidence that things are on a positive path for SFOL, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
Thank you all for the opportunity to lead Spacefleet Online, and to see that I can leave it with confidence and a profound sense of accomplishment.
Best Wishes,
Aaron Scott
Soon-To-Be Former Leader of Space Fleet.
